How to get my website on Google first page

On Page SEO is the activity related to optimizing the elements inside our blog/website. It includes optimizing the Title, Description, Article Readability, etc. When you write an article, write to captivate people’s interest. Identify the salient points by providing your readers with a solution or an answer. If people liked your content, then your traffic will shoot up by itself.

The On-Page SEO to begin with are:

Optimizing Meta Title, Writing Unique, Informative Article, Adding Proper Images with Alt Tags, Tagging Images with Dimensions, Proper placement of Focus Keywords, Keyword Phrases, Proper Article Hierarchy (means, H1, H2, H3 ….)Table of Content, Quick Page Loading, Pleasing Template and Clarity while Reading.

Implementing these elements while writing an article will of course help you to drive more visitors.

It is possible to get on the first 1-5 pages on Google. Although, it may seem really difficult to get on the first 1-5 pages of Google. Especially when there are  Billions competing web pages fighting for the same positions on Google.

Some steps you should consider

  1. Identify what your target audience wants to know. Just type a word into Google search followed by a letter. For example, you write about marketing. Then type “Marketing a” and see what Google suggests to you. Do this for every letter, and you get plenty of ideas about what to write about.
  2. Find long-tail keywords without less competition: When you find some ideas, again type them into google and look for “People also ask” section. Here, you’ll see what kind of questions people have about your topic.
How to get my website on Google first pageIf you find a question you like, type it into Google Search again and analyze the results. If you see forum sites or random sites without authority on the top. The keyword you’ll be targeting is the exact question people asked. Write down that keyword and the suggested keywords on a Notepad or your favorite text editor. Visit Google Adwords Keyword Planner

Enter all keywords in the keyword planner and hit “Get Ideas” Chose the most searched     for keywords with Low-to-Medium competition.

  1. Find the top 20 competitors: Write down the URLs for all of the top 1 and 2 pages of Google. Visit the top 20 websites on Google, copy and paste those 20 website addresses into your favorite text editor and save them. Take your time to read all 20 web pages of your competitors, understand and analyze what they wrote about. When you do so, you will notice some similarities in their content, concepts, and how most of them had covered the subject, product and/or service well or created a solution to a problem. You could use these keyword research tools. SpyFu Keyword Research Tools, SEO Research, SEO Overview.
  2. Match and compare your keyword research with your competitors

Most SEO fail when trying to compete for the same exact keywords competitors are ranking for. When your competitor has been ranking on page 1 of Google or any search engine for quite some time for a certain keyword, it becomes very hard to take over their place. DO NOT take your competitors’ same exact keyword and try to rank for that. The trick is to take a very similar keyword and try to rank for.

For example, if Codeable.io –is ranking #1 for “How do I get on the first page of Google?” Instead of me having to optimize for that exact keyword “How do I get on the first page of Google?” I went ahead and optimized for “how to get my website on google first page?”

Now that we’ve established that there is a difference between both keywords, we will then optimize for the keyword that is easier to rank for and that is NOT the same exact keyword (word-for-word) as the competition.

Ok, so the trick is understood. We’ve chosen a very similar keyword to that keyword that is ranking on page one of Google.

The next step is to rank #1 right?

  1. Write better content than all of your top 20 competitors combined

The key to ranking on top 1, 2 and 3 search results are writing valuable content. I am not here to show you how to write content. I am a terrible writer, but as long as you understand this content, I may be able to help and guide you through.

One thing you must do well is this “Know what your customer’s needs are, and provide them with solutions that satisfy those needs”. This is really easy since you already have read the top 20 pages on Google!

Cover the need, subject, product or service well. Keep spying on your competitors by adding and improving more content to the subject/product I am not saying you should copy content, rather, be original, do better and write more valuable contents.

Now that you have written your content, Prepare yourself to get technical.

  1. Search Engine Optimization

If you cannot handle the SEO, I recommend you hire a professional search engine optimization consultant to handle this task for you.

If you have an SEO software, great! Use it to optimize your content and your webpage. If not, use Screaming Frog SEO which is free to optimize your page. You can also use SpyFu, SEMRush, SEOProfiler and a few others but you only need one. I recommend SEOProfiler for organic SEO and SpyFu for paid advertising.

This SEO step will require you to do at least the following:

Online Optimization:

URL, Keyword, Page title, description and metatags optimizationWeb page, headers and content (images, text, videos, etc.) optimization, Sever speed and page performance (load, responsive, etc.) optimization

Offline Optimization:

Link Building, Social Optimization, Reviews, Testimonials, Feedbacks, etc.

Whatever you do, avoid SPAM and Blackhat SEO. Do not do anything that could harm your business.

  1. Present a consistent professional brand image and a better mobile-friendly user experience (UX): This is the easiest and one of the most critical steps that are often overlooked by many companies. The critical misconception here is “Consistent”. Whatever your brand image is throughout your online presence, make sure it is consistent across all channels – that is any alignment, logos, colors, fonts, etc. must match on your website, blog, flyers, white papers, infographics, slide decks, videos, social media, etc. Ensure that your site is mobile friendly, easy to open, speed and attractive, because it is one of the most important factors that play an integral role in search engine ranking.
  2. Help others by offering free valuable resources: Create a one or two-page article or a summary in a form of a white paper, infographic or a recorded video. Whatever format is convenient for you.

Here are some of the benefits of creating a helpful resource:

Your influencers will link to your page and you will get free inbound traffic. Your page will start ranking higher. My best advice here is to reach out to influencers in your marketplace as mentioned above. This by far the most effective method.

  1. Optimize for the snippet

If you really want to make ranking fast. You optimize for a snipper. It’s that piece on the top that answers your question. To do it, in your blog post, write down the question you’re answering in a separate paragraph. Then write down the exact answer in a separate paragraph.

Hope this helps.
