Cuba approves same sex marriage in unusual referendum
Cuban voted to legalize same sex marriage and adoption which changes the family code by allowing same- sex couples to marry and adopt. They also approved laws allowing surrogate pregnancies, broader rights for grandparents against gender violence.

The measure which contains more than 400 articles- was approved by 66.9% to 33.1%, as reported by the President of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro Gutierrez.
President Miguel Diaz Canel, celebrated the approval by tweeting ‘Love is now the law’
‘Most of our people will vote in favour of the code, but it still has issues that our society as a whole does not understand.
Some social media followers reacted to this approval of the same sex marriage- ‘They approve gay marriage but cannot get more food, better pay.’
