Millions of WhatsApp Users, Facebook and Instagram users have been unable to retrieve messages or send messages today, 4^th October 2021. These are the world’s most popular app. This outage started around 4pm WAT and has affected both iPhone, Android users, including those who use WhatsApp Web all around the world.

Facebook owns and operate both WhatsApp and Instagram and has shared identical statement on its Twitter account, stating, ‘We are aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconveniences.’

Facebook controls millions of people communication life. So, this could be a very big opportunity for developers to key into developing apps in case of emergencies. The outage has caused so many businesses to shut down within these few hours because they solely rely on these great apps.

It’s time for developers to start looking developing something that could fix such bug or develop something greater than these app. For a meantime, we could use emails to reach our loved ones and connect with them while the issue is being fixed. We could also download Botim app, Telegram and use. They are great apps too.

As for my Nigerians friends, do not think its MTN, Airtel, Glo or Etisalat network. The problem is from WhatsApp and it is affecting everybody in the world. This is not a problem from your network providers.

With time, this bug or issue will be fixed by Facebook team. So, let’s stay positive and think outside of the box too.
