This season opens up with a scary call from a lady to 9-1-1, complaining of her roommate and how she feels threatened and unsecure.

The victim, Maribel Ramos was an Army and after she returned from her second tour immediately after the 9/11 incident, she decided to get a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and she became a student at California State Fullerton. At the time she was in Orange city, her mum was with her but later passed away.

After the death of her mum, she pleaded with her sister to move in with her since she was alone in the apartment, but that was not possible for her sister, rather, she encouraged her to find a roommate.
So, Maribel needed a roommate, she put an ad in Craigslist and Mr. K. C Joy eventually showed up, became her roommate instantly.

He was the quiet type and presented himself as a good person. Everything was going smoothly until he started having feelings for Maribel. It became hot that she had to tell him to move out of the house. A day before he was supposed to move out, Maribel was missing.
The police began their search but couldn’t find anything even after questioning him until the police people tracked his data base and noticed what he usually searches on the net.

This paved way for the police people and they kept gathering information until he made a Google search on Peter’s Canyon location and zoomed on a particular spot- a tree on the map. The police people tracked it and found the body of Maribel in that area

He tried escaping but was caught and was sentenced to 15years to life in prison
You may ask, why did he kill her?
Obviously, he loved her as he confessed it to Maribel and her sister. He was probably obsessed with her and since she didn’t give him a green light, then nobody else could have her either.
If you watched, The Worst Roommate Ever: Call me Grandma, you would see how people are being obsessed with power, fame and money.
