Are snakes evil or good?

Snakes has been perceived as an evil animal maybe because of the role in played in the bible. Snakes can be evil and can be good just like human. In some communities, snakes or pythons are reverenced as a god. In those communities, it is an abomination to kill snakes.

The question is, why does the bible say otherwise? Well, snakes being evil is a very common theme in various religions from all around the world.

Snakes in Ancient time

The Egyptians had the chaos serpent, Apep/Apophis, which directly opposed the light and fought Ra each night. The Norse had Jörmungandr, the world or Midgar serpent, which was a rival to Thor and is said to be connected to Ragnarök, the Norse end of the world. And then there’s Xiangliu, a multi-headed snake from Chinese mythology that would cause devastation to the ecosystems it enters. And of course, there is the snake from Eden. One could go further by pointing to snakes in other religions or drawing parallels to dragons, Lindwurms and hydras.

The Bible doesn’t say they’re evil. Yes, there have been encounters mentioned in the Bible that have had less than desirable outcomes, but it doesn’t totally condemn them. For example, Adam and Eve story. The story of Joseph, the story or Moses and lots more. If you look in the book of Isaiah, you’ll see that God will eventually restore order so that we’ll be able to get along with dangerous ones without fear of a bite. It also says in Psalms that God will preserve people and animals so snakes will be in Heaven, and so will all your other favorite animals.

The “serpent” that tempted Eve, never actually existed, it was Satan who took the form of a serpent. And if you think about it, would Eve have had anything to do with something she considered repulsive and evil?

I believe Satan took that form, because, up until that time, Eve had a good relationship with the serpent. If she hadn’t trusted, and liked the serpent, she wouldn’t have been inclined to listen to it or follow it’s suggestion, Satan had to use the form of someone or something that Eve would find believable and trustworthy.

Eve, and Adam, (who followed her suggestion to also eat the apple, must have felt a huge sense of betrayal at being misguided BUT either one of them could have declined the apple so there’s certainly enough fault to go around if you want to point fingers. Satan, in the form of a serpent suggested to disobey God, but both Adam and Eve made the choice to do so. Oddly enough, the apple never seemed to be viewed with any negativity, which surprises me a bit. 🙂

It doesn’t really say that. Let’s take the whole Garden of Eden story. Why would the bad guy choose to take the form of an animal that’s bad, if he wants to be listened to?

He’d choose to take the form of an animal that is considered to be nice or beneficial, wouldn’t he? Wouldn’t that make sense?

Snakes are just animals

Snakes are just animals, like any other. They don’t have the brains or sense of morality that enables a creature to be evil. The only true evil, like the only true good, comes from humans.

Snakes have been used as a metaphor for evil, but that’s because people understand things expressed as metaphors

The concept of evil does not exist in nature. Like all animals, snakes do the things they do to survive in this world. They only bite in self-defense or to kill prey in order to eat. So, not a single species of snake, no matter how venomous or aggressive, is actually evil.

Snakes are or can be gentle, kind, adorable animals who just want hugs and attention.
please, don’t treat snakes badly just because they seem creepy. They’re actually really cool if you get to know one! Some people have snakes and even python as pet in their homes.

Snakes in the dream

Seeing snakes in the dreams doesn’t mean evil except the snake bite or hurt you in the dream. Seeing black snake in the dream is usually a message from the spirit world trying to communicate a message. Sometimes you see it passing, sometimes you see it close to you but they don’t hurt you or pose any fierce look at you.

Seeing Yellow snakes could mean luck or water spirit. Seeing white or yellow snakes means that water spirit want to communicate something to you. Everybody created has their origin. Some are rom water, some are from tree, some are from fire and some are from land.
