‘Ajebutter’ shortened as ‘ajebo’, or ‘bota’ or ‘botti’, is an informal Nigerian slang fondly used to refers one who is born into a rich family or someone who is exposed to luxury life.

It has its origin from the Yoruba Language (a major language in Nigeria). It is one of the most popular slangs used often in our daily lives.

So, when you are rich, you are often referred as Ajebutter children. Ajebutter children are often seen as people who are not also exposed to hardship and can hardly involve themselves in hard chores or activities. They live luxury life. They are being pampered, soft and have different experience from an average or poor child.

It is also called ‘silver spoon’. It can be loosely translated to mean “bourgeoisie” “That babe is an ajebutter”.

People who are Ajebutter are likely to possess the shakara characteristics.
