We’ve all seen the way the media portrays people who use crystal meth in TV shows “before and after” photos highlighting missing teeth, skin reactions and facial sores.

Methamphetamine is a white crystalline drug that people take by snorting it (inhaling through the nose), smoking it or injecting it with a needle.

Some even take it orally, but all develop a strong desire to continue using it because the drug creates a false sense of happiness and well-being—a rush (strong feeling) of confidence, hyper activeness and energy (Drug Free World)

One also experiences decreased appetite and this is why users of this drugs look very unhealthy and malnourished. These drug effects generally last from six to eight hours, but can last up to twenty-four hours depending on the body type.

Mkpulummiri has become a serious issue all around the world. In Nigeria, especially the young people in the South East, are gradually getting addicted to the drug.

Why should you avoid it?

The drug looks like Ice Block and can be blue in color sometimes. Methamphetamine is known by experts to be one of the hardest drug addictions to treat.

It is very addictive and affects the central nervous system of whoever takes it. It creates a feeling of massive happiness that is very addictive and makes the taker want to fly. This means that when the effect wears off on the user, the user tries to have that feeling again thereby taking it again and again.

Turning point found that the best way to approach crystal meth dependency in young adults is through a combination of drug testing, detoxification, behavioral therapies, education, individual counseling, 12-Step support, and the adoption of new, healthy hobbies to replace old drug-using activity.

Methamphetamine and crystal meth are powerful stimulants that bear severe withdrawal symptoms. So, this can be best done through an inpatient treatment center, so that those battling crystal meth addiction can recover in a stable environment, free from outside triggers and temptations.

Therapy and Cure For Mkpulummiri

The only treatment for people in Nigeria is Behavioural Therapy which is available in Nigeria, but the question is that, can the therapist be patient enough especially, knowing the recovery duration could be longer.

In Nigeria, we have Behavioural Therapist like Rev. Fr. Adolphus Ezeakor, he has handled cases of drug abusers in the UK and he is presently in Nigeria to help his home country.

Also, knowing that therapy section could take a whole lot of money, this is why you should stay away from it because most families may not be able to fund such therapy section.

We watched videos of how a community treated user of this drugs. They are tied to the tree and are heavily beaten until the strokes gets very deep into their body.

While they beat them, they make them denounce such act. This has worked for some but it has not worked for some others.
