The Davis School located at the north of Salt Lake City, has banned the use of the Bible for students until they enter high school.

The district has removed the Bible from their elementary and middle school libraries after receiving a petition to ban the holy book due to its descriptions of sex and violence.

The Davis School located at the north of Salt Lake City of USA, has banned the use of the Bible for students until they enter high school after receiving a petition to ban the holy book due to its descriptions of sex, vulgar and violence contentsAccording to Fox News, the Bible ban is not the first of its kind — Utah schools previously began removing other books from libraries after a 2022 state law required schools to consider parents’ input on age-appropriate books.

The Book of Mormon, a sacred text of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is the next holy book up for evaluation at the district.

On Dec. 11, 2022, the Davis School District received a petition from a parent to have the Bible removed from schools for being what the parent considered a “sex-ridden” book.

The petition of the parent requesting a review of the Bible was made available in March 2022 with the parent’s name and address withheld. In the petition, the anonymous parent seems to mock Utah Parents United, a conservative parents coalition that sought to remove inappropriately sexual books from school libraries.

Within the first five months of the law being in place, parents filed over 250 complaints petitioning for certain books to be removed from schools.

“Utah Parents United left off one of the most sex-ridden books around: The Bible. You’ll no doubt find that the Bible has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition,” the petition read.

This complaint followed the passing of Utah’s “Sensitive Materials in Schools” law enacted in May which “prohibits certain sensitive instructional materials” if they contain “explicit sexual arousal, stimulation, masturbation, intercourse and fondling.”

The school district itself did not explain its reasoning for banning the Bible, nor did it cite the particular verses were the deciding factor in its removal.

Some of the reactions from the internet were pulled up. A lady called Georgina wrote, ‘

As it should. I said it that the chicken will soon come home to roost. Republicans will not leave school and books alone. They refuse to learn that the constitution clearly states that there should be separation of church and state. They think banning book was the way out, they never saw this coming. Before you leave nonsense comment on my submission, hope you know the back story of book banning that led to Bible banning. I love my Bible, it belongs in my home and place of worship, the Republicans became zealots in promoting fake Christianity and imposing Christianity in schools in a nation like America that is a secular country with over 4 thousand religious’ beliefs. Maybe they thought Christianity was the only religion. Let me see how they will start crying now when a Muslim student brings his Quran, a Buddhist brings his Buddha, a Jew brings his Torah and all starts praying according to their religion, then you will see the republicans cry wolf to ban other religions. Now their quest to grab of power and political influence through nonsense “woke” shenanigans is backfiring. If you start banning books claiming that they are violent and indoctrinating kids, other parents have the right to request the Bible be banned for its violent content as well. What goes around comes around”

“Osiwoniku wrote ‘I believe a lot of people don’t even have the background of this issue, a conservative coalition of parents sought to ban books with issues on slavery, black and racial history, gay, transsexuals’ reports, they cited it was too vulgar, sexual for children and it was also indoctrinating children, and forward comes a parent who argued that if you’re banning books sensitive and too sexual for minors and children then the Bible and book of Mormon should be banned as well cos they contain some pages on sexual stuffs and also violence which was too sensitive for kids as well, this is a case of what is good for the goose is good for the gander, the republican coalition of parents shot themselves in the foot with their policy, especially the slavery and race part (why would you not want slavery and black history be taught to your children ?) . How can you be a Christian conservative and still be against slavery and black history lessons being taught ? , I am not and would never

support banning the Bible, I just just giving the report.”
