Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla
The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, took place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey.
King Charles III has been crowned in a historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey, succeeding his mother Queen Elizabeth II who passed away in September 8, 2022.
The ceremony was structured around an Anglican service of Holy Communion. It included Charles being anointed with holy oil, receiving the coronation regalia, and being crowned, emphasizing his spiritual role and secular responsibilities. Also, Representatives of the Church of England and the British royal family declared their allegiance to him, and the people throughout the Commonwealth realms were invited to do so.

The two-hour service saw Camilla also crowned queen, although, shorter and simpler and the event was attended by around 100 world leaders and televised to millions. Despite public skepticism, supporters argue that the royal family provides an international draw, a vital diplomatic tool, and a means of keeping Britain on the world stage.
